don't know if it can be done or not but it would be nice to have some of the forums like Mens and Womens and maybe even Old Timers forums set up to where you have to enter a password to enter those forums. a lot of people with shared pc's.

I am just hoping the Old Timers Forum is gonna be for just that, Old Timers and not just anybody that request to be in it. I want it like it used to be, a place to go to get away from the drama of the main board.

Maybe all specialty forums should require "x" number of years time on the board to qualify for entrance. And maybe behavior on the board should play a roll with entrance and expulsion from/reinstatement into those boards. Maybe even the reputation system could be incorporated somehow. This makes sense to me because those boards should be treated as a privilege and not a right.

No matter what's done it has to be done asap. Because what good are the specialty boards if everybody gets in? Then it's just the same as the non sports forum. Even if it meant that I couldn't get in I'd still agree with MJ's sponsor idea. Wasn't that how it used to be? Lots of people can't get in that way because we don't know anybody on the forum personally. But some system or set of criteria has to be installed for this to work properly. There'd be a lot of urinating (pi*s gets censored lol) and moaning about it but dems da breaks.

I agree SBG. I can give you a nuetral thought on it. Ive not been in the timers board nor do I want to be. Nothing agianst you all BTW. But I could request and maybe get accepted the way things are now. But yeh that should be more of a honor. Alot of us like to bicker and go on. So maybe you should take the guys that was in and let them when they see fit to invite and vote on a new member. Me as a poster on the regular board see no problem with that. I see no problem at all with that.

I hear everything you're saying people. The logistics of voting on every member for the Old Timers board right now is not possible. The only people we have with current access to it is R0ck and the rest of the mods. So who's gonna vote? The mods? Do we vote in the sticky? Does it end up becoming a popularity contest as to who gets in? That last thing (polls that = popularity contests) become a rather slippery slope.

I'll put it this way--we have an idea as to who was in each board, esp. the Old Timers board. It's still going to be at our discretion as to who gets access to which boards. Remember those are "request" threads--not "post your name and we'll add you w/o thinking" threads.

It did used to be that you had to be sponsored in...as of right now, we'll try to add who was in there before, along with a few who have met the criteria in the meantime since we've been w/o the Old Timers board, and go from there. If the newer ones we have can't handle the Old Timers board w/decorum, they'll be taken off that board, plain & simple.

And it's always been about behavior on the boards as to whether or not you get access to them--down to and including the Non-Sports and the main sports boards...trust me...if someone gets out of line, and they don't cooperate with moderation, they'll get banned. For what period of time/which board(s), all depends upon the situation.

As for password protection--we don't necessarily need passwords to get into each board as long as we're controlling access via user lists. If you're not on the user list for it, you shouldn't be able to bring up the Old Timers board to even view the topics. In that case, what's the use of a password? Now, give me some feedback here--as of right now, only the admins/mods have access to the Old Timers board. Can any of you bring up that board and view the threads? If so, we may explore the password possibility. If not, I don't see the use in it.

Oh--and to answer the sticky thread question--initially, they'll be up so we can have a list to go by for requests to be added to each board. We needed to organize it some way, and this was the easiest way to do it. Once we get membership established on those boards, we'll go back to the PM'ing of admins/mods to get access to the boards like we used to do.
